The Sciana network comprises up to eighteen members in each cohort. The Health Foundation recruits and supports six members working in the UK; Careum Stiftung six in Switzerland; and Robert Bosch Stiftung six, primarily in Germany. Salzburg Global Seminar, a strategic convening organisation that accelerates leadership for systems challenges, coordinates the activities of the network.

Each cohort attends four four-day gatherings over a two-year period at Schloss Leopoldskron, Salzburg. Over the two-year period, members are expected to collaborate with one another on joint policy proposals, service delivery innovation, publications and/or self-determined projects.
