Medical Director, Tower Hamlets GP Federation, UK
Shera Chok has been a GP in East London since 1997 and is the medical director for the Tower Hamlets GP Federation. In a diverse career, she has also been associate medical director and chief clinical information officer at Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust, director of primary care at Barts Health NHS Trust and medical director for NHS Lambeth. Shera is also a member of the national Independent Reconfiguration Panel, which advises ministers on NHS redesign programmes.
She has a track record of developing trust and relationships between different stakeholders to improve patient safety, break down silos and implement innovative models of care. She has worked in countries including Sudan, Laos, Indonesia and Greece in trauma, primary care and mental health with international NGOs serving patients affected by war and natural disasters. She has completed an M.B.A., an M.A. in inter-professional education and a Nuffield Trust Fellowship on cross-organisational learning and has studied at the Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard School of Public Health and the Institute of Health Improvement (IHI) in Boston as part of the NHS Executive Fast Track Programme.
