Updates concerning Sciana Fellows in May 2024
On 5 June, Dorli Kahr-Gottlieb (Cohort 3) will participate as a panelist in a discussion hosted by Women in Global Health Austria and European Health Forum Gastein. This event, taking place in Vienna, will critically assess barriers women face in health leadership, discuss strategies to overcome them, and explore whether certain sectors are paving the way.
Among other topics, Annabel Seebohm (Cohort 2) spoke with Artur Olesch for ICT&health to discuss the condition of medical innovations in Europe, how legislative changes in the European Union have affected the competitiveness of the medical technology sector, the hype surrounding artificial intelligence and its relevancy to the industry in Europe.
Speaking to Süddeutsche Zeitung, Thomas Fischer (Cohort 3) commented on Karl Lauterbach's recent remarks to the editorial network RND and the figures shared.
Alex Schellinger (Cohort 5) and Birgit Bauer (Cohort 5) will participate as speakers at this year's health.tech Conference. A new workforce study by the Swiss Society of General Internal Medicine reveals a looming shortage of general practitioners and general internists (i.e. generalists) in Switzerland. The study, led by Sven Streit (Cohort 5), indicates that by 2033, Switzerland will require over 2,300 new generalists to fill the gap left by retiring professionals and reduced work hours.
