The Sciana Network is delighted to confirm Alwen Williams, Peter Berchtold, and Lothar H. Wieler as its newest advisors.
All three advisors are prominent additions to the Network and will contribute their leadership experience and expertise on international health issues.
Peter Berchtold is co-director of College M in Switzerland, a national institution for management development, research, and consulting in health care management.
Lothar H. Wieler is a microbiologist and global public health expert who previously served as president of the Robert Koch Institute.
Alwen Williams had a 40-year career in the NHS, with 20 years spent in various CEO roles. Her work focused on strategic configuration, turnaround in both quality and finance, startup organizations, and crisis leadership.
All three advisors met for the first time at Cohort 6’s second residential meeting in Salzburg. In their role, they will act as a resource for Fellows, providing feedback and support.
Alwen said, “I am delighted to be joining the Sciana Network and to be part of this leadership community focused on innovation, outcomes, and personal growth.
"Having been a CEO in the NHS for over 20 years, I am passionate about inclusive and compassionate leadership. I have experience of diversity and inclusion, organisational development, and strategic change management.
“I look forward to sharing my lived leadership experience and providing support to Fellows as they progress their unique leadership journeys."
Peter said, "I think the Sciana Network with its international focus, the three foundations, and the three countries is a real good thing. It’s a wonderful chance for the people participating and it is important for building a network of health leaders.
“It’s a great programme, and I love my role as an advisor. My role as an advisor first is to give advice. I might give some support because I’ve seen a lot of things, but giving support means for me asking questions, bringing in some ideas, and bringing in some alternative options to participants.”
Lothar said, “Healthcare systems around the world are facing major changes in the coming years. In many countries, like in Germany, demographic trends mean that prevention must be given significantly more weight.
“I share the interest in making progress here and reducing health inequality at the same time with the Sciana Network.
“New technologies, such as artificial intelligence, which serve our fellow human beings, offer huge opportunities. I am, therefore, delighted to be taking on this task.”
