In November 2025, Sciana Advisor Lothar H. Wieler delivered the Sciana Lecture on "Leadership lessons in the response to COVID".
Speaking in person to Cohorts 6 and 7, Lothar discussed how he came to be appointed to the Robert Koch Institute, how it operated during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the value of having trusted networks and competent colleagues to provide support.
Afterwards, Sciana Fellow Mirjam Lämmle (Cohort 6) offered a reflection on her own experience during the pandemic working at Switzerland's Federal Office of Public Health and the Swiss Cancer League, and the events that guided her leadership during this time.
