about me

Alwen Williams retired from full-time employment in 2022 after a 40-year career in the NHS, with 20 years spent in various CEO roles. She is now self-employed and works as a consultant. Her work focused on strategic configuration, turnaround in both quality and finance, startup organizations, and crisis leadership. From 2012 to 2015, she served as the London Regional Director at the Trust Development Authority, where she oversaw several mergers and acquisitions. In 2015, Alwen became CEO of Barts Health, leading a significant turnaround programme for one of the largest NHS trusts in the country and guiding the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Her key skills and experience include values-based leadership, complex strategic change, people management and culture transformation, effective organizational governance, and partnership working. Now working in consultancy, she provides strategic leadership and organizational development support within the NHS. Additionally, she has chaired the Barts 900th anniversary campaign over the past 18 months.
