about me

Nicola von Lutterotti is the president of the board of trustees (since 2010) of the Max-Planck Institute for Immunobiology and Epigenetics in Freiburg and has advised them on the issues of public relations. She also supports other institutions like the Stiftung Humboldt Universität and the Stiftung Charité (both in Berlin) that promote innovations in science and the understanding of science. Besides, she is regularly writing for the newspapers FAZ and the NZZ and moderates medical conferences. After completing her Ph.D. on high blood pressure-treatment at the Medical Faculty of the University in Freiburg, Germany, she spent many years in this research field as postdoctoral Fellow at Cornell Medical University in New York City and the University of Milan, Italy. Early on, she noticed that much more emphasis is put on doing research than on communicating its results to the public. Therefore she already stared during her university studies to write about scientific topics in the lay press. She also served as press-officer of the German Cardiac Society (1995-2004).
