An economist and specialist in international relations by training Ljubiša (or Ljubo) Stojanovic has spent 20+ years in public service in various health policy related roles, mostly in the Swiss administration at federal and cantonal levels. In his current position at the Basel-City Cantonal Health Department, he oversees among other the public financing of hospital and long term care services as well as the implementation of health policy reforms at the cantonal level.
Ljubo has always been passionate about understanding the functioning of health systems in a comparative perspective and about keys to effective health policy making. For several years he served as Swiss representative on the Board of the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies and has been regularly invited as guest lecturer in academic programs. Recently he completed an Executive MBA at the University of Lausanne with a focus on health care management.
