leadership vision

I want to address complex regulatory challenges to drive change in the healthcare system for the benefit of the society. In my role as a supervisor and leader, I seek to open doors so that individuals can find their own path and develop their own skills. The better trained and prepared the future experts are, the more we can achieve together.

my story

As a member of the fifth cohort of the Sciana Network, we are working on the One Health challenge.

On a micro level, I find it exciting to work with inspiring, motivated individuals from Germany, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. On a macro level, the Sciana network opens many doors for me to achieve my leadership goals.

about me

Carl Rudolf Blankart is a researcher at the KPM Center for Public Management at the University of Bern and the Swiss Institute for Translational and Entrepreneurial Medicine (sitem-insel). He chairs the Economics Cluster at the University of Bern's Multidisciplinary Center for Infectious Diseases (MCID). He holds a master's degree in Industrial Engineering from the Technische Universität Berlin (Dipl.-Ing.) and a doctorate from the Universität Hamburg (Dr. rer. pol.). Prior to his appointment at the University of Bern, he held positions at the Universität Hamburg and was a visiting researcher at the Centre for Health Policy at Imperial College London and the Brown University School of Public Health in the US. Dr. Blankart's research is situated at the intersection of medicine, management, and law, and aims to improve the pathway from idea to patient. He focuses on regulatory and reimbursement frameworks for medicinal products and medical devices, exploring how these frameworks can improve health provision. Dr. Blankart is particularly passionate about translating research results into practice. To this end, he is involved with the Swiss Round Table on Antibiotics (president) and the Swiss Association for the Promotion of Self-Management (president). Dr. Blankart is also a member of the board of directors of Decomplix AG. In addition, he provides advisory services to private and public organizations on health policy and regulatory issues.
