Lars Clarfeld is Secretary General of the Swiss Society of General Internal Medicine and Director of smarter medicine - Choosing wisely Switzerland. He was previously Head of Strategic Medical Controlling at Bern University Hospital and Medical Director of a Rehabilitation Centre in Eastern Switzerland. He is a trained specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology of the Locomotor System. He holds a Master of Advanced Studies in Healthcare Economics and Management from the University of Lausanne. Accordingly, Lars Clarfeld has specialised knowledge of the interface between medicine and economics.
