about me

Anna Lisa Martin-Niedecken is Professor of Design Science at Zurich University of the Arts, specializing in (digital) health and healthcare innovation. She heads the Institute for Design Research and leads the cross-institutional Digital Health Design Living Lab, an interdisciplinary platform advancing co-designed health solutions with partners from hospitals, patient organisations, and stakeholders across science and industry.

Trained as a sports scientist, she integrates design, HCI, and health research to co-develop, evaluate, and implement technologies such as Serious and Applied Games, Exergames, and digital or AI-supported health tools. Her academic work has received distinctions including Best Paper Awards and the SIGCHI Outstanding Dissertation Award.

She is a frequent keynote speaker at international events, including TEDxZurich. As founder of the fitness-gaming startup Sphery Ltd, she brings strong translational and entrepreneurial expertise. She also serves on advisory boards and, since 2025, on the Research Council of the Swiss National Science Foundation.
