Shaun's career is a game of two halves. Trained as a systems engineer, he spent the first part working in service improvement and transformation leadership roles across manufacturing and consultancy, including at Airbus and PA Consulting. In 2006, he moved into the NHS — at Guy's & St Thomas', NHS London, and King's Health Partners — to apply these skills to health and healthcare in the capital, holding a range of senior roles in population health.
In 2025, he joined the Ellison Institute of Technology, which brings together academics, entrepreneurs and policy makers to lead on a health programme. He holds a PhD in urban health from Imperial College London, where he is also a Fellow at the Institute of Global Health Innovation (IGHI), and has advised the Mayor of London on urban health policy since 2016. These threads now come together as he is currently leading the establishment of the Centre for Urban Health & Healthcare (CUHH) with Lord Darzi at Imperial College London.
